West Coast Region Highlights
Ranked #1 in 2018 by US News and World Report as the most comfortable weather climate in the entire country! Because it lies along the ocean and parallel to the predominant westerly winds, sideshore and light onshore breezes moderate temperatures, result in warmer winters and cooler summers compared with places farther inland.
The region contains numerous performing art venues, including a 2,000 seat theater, which is the largest indoor performance venue in the area, and site of an annual International Film Festival.
Year-round tourist destination renowned for its fair weather, downtown beaches, and architecture. Tourism brings more than one billion dollars per year into the local economy, including $80 million in tax revenue. Annually over the Memorial Day weekend, there is a chalk-art festival held downtown with ephemeral works of art created on the asphalt, and food stalls set up and music.
